Will there be a Blood Promise Graphic Novel?

So this week (on Tuesday) Richelle Mead tweeted this stunningly beautiful picture of Sydney by the VA graphic novel artist Emma Vieceli. But afterwards she also tweeted that there is no news of a Blood Promise graphic novel:

But while we are waiting (and hopefully for a yes) we still have the Blood Promise book, and the Vampire Academy graphic novels!
Blood Promise is, for those who don't know, the last book in the amazing Vampire Academy series (go to goodreads for bookinfo!)
More infos on Richelle Mead can be found in the tag and on her official page. Oh and go read the books, I loved Vampire Academy!

Until next time, Happy reading!

Vampire Academy Movie Casting

Well I already told you who is going to play the leads in the upcoming Vampire Academy movie (I am so excited, I can't breath :D) in this previous post. Here is a short round up:

That's Zoey Deutch as Rose Hathaway,  Danila Kozlovskiy as Dimitri Belikov, and Lucy Fry as Lissa Dragomir.

Last monday the news were released that Olga Kurylenko would be playing the headmistress of the school Mrs. Kirova.
My first thoughts were something in the line of this:

(I am Sam and the casting director is Dean :D)
(Gifs are not mine! If it's yours and you want credit mail me :) )

Then I thought a little more about it I realized that Olga Kurylenko is nothing like I imagined Kirova when I read the books. She was a headmistress of an academy, always cold and I kind of imagined her as an old lady. Like professor McG in the Harry Potter movies.
And hands down Olga Kurylenko is just gorgeous!
So I could be sitting here and cry about the fact that she looks so much different than I wanted her to look. But of course I am not doing that. You know why? Imagine they cast a actress that looks exactly like the Kirova of my imagination. I would be thrilled! And then I would maybe find out that she sucks at acting and gives a terrible performance.
I know that Olga Kurylenko is, at least in my opinion, a great actress and can pull of a fierce performance, as seen in Centurion. I am sure she has all an actress needs to play the headmistress of a school that trains teenagers to fight vampires.
If a character is supposed to have blonde hair and the actress has brown hair, or pink hair, I am fine with it as long as she plays the character in a good way.
I am sure the movie will be great! This will be fangirl-heaven!
Oh, please do not let them disappoint me :D

What are your thoughts on the casting?

PS: I just love gifs :D

Book Challenge Day 4: Blood Promise

And here is the next part of the 30 Day Challenge. I'm sure I will be able to keep on posting this without delay *cough*
Today's prompt is:

Your favourite book of your favourite series.

Seriously? I have to choose one?
I already said that Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead is my favourite series. But which of the six books is my favourite? That is a tough question. A really tough question.
I have to go with book 4 Blood Promise.
Here is the official summary taken from Richelle Mead's site:

Rose Hathaway's life will never be the same.

The recent attack on St. Vladimir's Academy devastated the entire Moroi world. Many are dead. And, for the few victims carried off by Strigoi, their fates are even worse. A rare tattoo now adorns Rose's neck, a mark that says she's killed far too many Strigoi to count. But only one victim matters . . . Dimitri Belikov. Rose must now choose one of two very different paths: honoring her life's vow to protect Lissa—her best friend and the last surviving Dragomir princess—or, dropping out of the Academy to strike out on her own and hunt down the man she loves. She'll have to go to the ends of the earth to find Dimitri and keep the promise he begged her to make. But the question is, when the time comes, will he want to be saved?

Now, with everything at stake—and worlds away from St. Vladimir's and her unguarded, vulnerable, and newly rebellious best friend—can Rose find the strength to destroy Dimitri? Or, will she sacrifice herself for a chance at eternal love?

So why this one you may ask. Here are some of the reasons:

Beware, Spoilers ahead!

1. Rose and Sidney on a Roadtrip. Do I need to say more? Rose and Sidney on a ROADTRIP
2. I loved to actually meet Dimitri's family. That was such a great insight into his life and they were all incredible characters.
3. The tension at the begining when she makes her decision to go after him and keep her promise.
4. Have I mentioned how awesome Rose and Sidney are? Can you imagine them on a roadtrip?
5. The tragic behind the whole "I need to kill the man I love"- thing. It sounds cheesy but Richelle Mead captured it in a really heartbreaking way.

Have you read this book? How would you answer today's prompt?

Book Challenge Day 3: Vampire Academy

Aloha :) The prompt for today (we'll I should have posted this yesterday, but you know how I am with keeping up...)  is:

Your favourite series

I love a lot of series, but when it comes to picking one I'll always go with the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead. I just love these books! There is not one book I disliked and I enjoyed each equally.
I posted about that series a lot, I even think my first English post was about Richelle Mead.
Her vampires were different from the once hyped through Twilight and I think that is one of the main reasons I stayed with this series the whole time. And maybe the wonderfully tragic love story was the other reason.

I cannot begin to describe the excitment I felt when I finally held the last book in my hands. I was so happy and so sad that the series ended at the same time. And now I am as excitedly waiting for the movie!
Here is what I had so say about the ending of VA, back in the day:

"Though I didn't wanted it to end like it did, Richelle Mead has a wonderful stile of writing and I was totally satisfied with the way she put the end into words. Honestly she could have killed EVERYONE at the end of this novel in a Shakespear-like tragedy and I still would be satisfied because she would have written it in such a wonderful way. I'm just happy she doesn't try to sell washing machines, because I would probably buy a dozen without needing one. "  Wednesday, July 27, 2011

Yeah, you're reading it right. I would even buy a washing mashine from this faboulous author... Now go and read the book!
This story was actually the thing that got me into Paranormal Romance and reading YA. So therefore you can say this whole blog is kind of Richelle Mead's fault.
So thank you for such an amazing series, Mrs. Mead.

What is your favourite series?
Find the complete challenge here.
Have you read these books? I definitely recommend them!

Vampire Academy Movie Cast

Aloha :)

Yeah, I know I am a little late on this, but have you saw the cast for the Vampire Academy movie news? They finally cast Rose, Lissa and Dimitri!
Zoey Deutch will play Rose, Lucy Fry will play Lissa and Danila Kozlovskiy will play Dimitri. I never saw any of them in a movie so I cannot say if they are good actors or not, but I am still really happy with that casting. All right, I admitt it I am freaking out over here!
They definitely have the looks and (which makes me even more glad) they have the right age. You surely now all those actors playing high school kids and looking like they are 25 or older. I was really afraid that would happen with the VA cast, too.

Zoey Deutch will surely play a great Rose. Rose is one of my favourite characters and for a long time VA was (and still is) one of my favourite series. (Seriously click on the tag and you'll find a lot of posts were I fangirl over the books). The only thing I dislike about Zoey being Rose is that she's too skinny to be Rose. One of the big reasons Rose is such a great role model for girls is that she's not the typical super skinny girlie girl you see eveywhere on tv. So I'm kinda scared that will not be such a big point in the movie, which is really sad.
But I'm still sure she will be a great Rose!
For more information on the casting go here!

Oh and for those that have no clue what I am talking about:

Vampire Academy is the first book in a mesmerizing series by Richelle Mead and focuses on the conflict between two vampire races and the adventures of Rose Hathaway and her best friend Lissa. I love it, it is great go and read it! (Or find a full review here)

So please excuse me, I am going back to fangirling now... ( And I think I will start talking in gifs now...)

I do not own the picture. The source is here. And I do not own the gif, found it on tumblr, If you want me to credit you for creating it just leave a comment.

Indigo Spell Teaser Quotes

Hey everyone :)

The team of Penguin Teen Australia just started reading The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead. While they go along they tweet spoiler free comments on twitter. So everyone who is excited for the book should check out their twitter account.

They also released teaser quotes wich can be found on their side.

Indigo Spell will be published in february next year. It is the third book in Richelle Mead's Bloodlines series, a follow up to her bestselling Vampire Academy series. Here is the summary taken from Goodreads (beware of spoilers for previous books):

"In the aftermath of a forbidden moment that rocked Sydney to her core, she finds herself struggling to draw the line between her Alchemist teachings and what her heart is urging her to do. Then she meets alluring, rebellious Marcus Finch--a former Alchemist who escaped against all odds, and is now on the run. Marcus wants to teach Sydney the secrets he claims the Alchemists are hiding from her. But as he pushes her to rebel against the people who raised her, Sydney finds that breaking free is harder than she thought. There is an old and mysterious magic rooted deeply within her. And as she searches for an evil magic user targeting powerful young witches, she realizes that her only hope is to embrace her magical blood--or else she might be next.

Populated with new faces as well as familiar ones, the Bloodlines series explores all the friendship, romance, battles, and betrayals that made the #1 New York Times bestselling Vampire Academy series so addictive—this time in a part-vampire, part-human setting where the stakes are even higher and everyone’s out for blood."

Teaser Tuesday!!

Hey guys! :D
Since I have like 30 minutes left until tuesday ends in my time zone I thought I might throw in some teasers I spotted on the web:

1. Aprilynne Pike posted the first chapter of her new book Destined on her blog and promised that she will post teasers daily now. So if you're a fan of her Wings series you should definitely head over here and check it out! Destined is the fourth and final book in her series which started with Wings. Here is the official description taken from Goodreads, but beware it contains spoiler for those, who haven't read the series yet! For more information on the first book visit this link!
Destined will be published in three weeks!

>>Laurel now knows the truth: Yuki is a rare Winter faerie, the most powerful—and deadly—of all, and she is working with Klea to conquer and destroy Avalon. With Tamani, David, and Chelsea by her side, Laurel prepares for a fight she never thought she would have to face.

Filled with heart-pounding action, sweeping romance, and higher stakes at every turn, Destined is the series conclusion that readers have been clamoring for—with a twist that will leave them breathless.

"Tamani looked at her gravely, and reached up to touch her hair behind her ear. He hesitated for an instant, then his hands found the sides of her face, pulling her to him. He didn't kiss her, just held her face to his, their foreheads resting together, their noses almost touching.

She hated how much it felt like good-bye."<<

2. In others news PenguinTeen released the first teaser trailer for the Golden Lily, book two in Richelle Meads Bloodlines series. Bloodlines is a spin off series, which means it takes place in the same world and features same characters as the original series, of her bestselling Vampire Academy series and revolves around the character Sydney. Sydney is an alchemist who's aim it is to protect the secret of vampires. For more information on Richelle Mead and her books click this link or read all postes tagged with her name :)

That's it for today, see you soon

Last Sacrifice_Last VA Review

Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy, #6)Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I'm honestly not sure what I should say about this book. It is amazing, but if you`re reading this review that maybe means you read the other books and you already know that this series is amazing.

Last Sacrifice is a spellbinding, roller-coaster like ending to a wonderful series.

Though I didn't wanted it to end like it did, Richelle Mead has a wonderful stile of writing and I was totally satisfied with the way she put the end into words. Honestly she could have killed EVERYONE at the end of this novel in a Shakespear-like tragedy and I still would be satisfied because she would have written it in such a wonderful way. I'm just happy she doesn't try to sell washing machines, because I would probably buy a dozen without needing one.

But enough about this fabulous author, let's get back to the book:

The outcome of this book wasn't really forseeable, though there were moments that foreshadowed the ending, but you can recognize them just from looking back already knowing how it will end.
Watching the characters develop through such a lot of action and feelings, which where all perfectly described by the author and came to life within the pages, did never get boring, even not in the sixth book.

Richelle Mead started this series with a BANG and she ended it with a even bigger BADAM!!

And once again: This book is amazing!
Now Bloodlines can come. I'm really determined to find out what happens next to this breathtaking characters.

I wish you all a wonderful week full of words

Casting Adrian Ivashkov...

As I explained in this post, I'm starting to cast actors for my favorite characters in the universe of Vampire Academy. Since Preger Entertainment announced that they bought the rights for VA and asked about the opinion of the fans their Facebook page is bursting with discussions.
Today we will think a little bit about Adrian Ivashkov.
I already casted him here, and choose Hayden Christensen. But since I'm changing plans and searching for younger actors I thought about someone more like...

Steven R. McQueen...
Yeah, I know he is busy filming The Vampire Diaries, but hello, have you seen him smile?
He got the looks, the charisma, the talent and the age to play an amazing Adrian.

Adrian is a Moroi, and the Queens' nephew. He is 21 years old and a spirit user. He tries to cover the side effects connected to this element with drinking and smoking. He has the reputation of beeing bad and a ladies' man. But after he meets Rose he has an eye on her and does not hide that. So after a while she promises to give him a shot.
Adrian teaches Lissa everything he knows about the element Spirit and learns from her in return. Sometimes he shows how caring he can be, e.g. when he rescues the younger student Jill.

“I’m like a fine wine. I get better with age. The best is yet to come.”
- Adrian Ivashkov (Blood Promise)

What do you think about that choice and who would you cast as the perfect Adrian?
Wish you all the best
KJ

The wait is finally over!

I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it *sings and dances*
Today, after months of waiting, it finally arrived in my mailbox:

The German version of Richelle Meads Last Sacrifice. Can you imagine trying to keep up with the latest news about Bloodlines, without reading Spoilers? It was so damn hard.
Why did I wait so long, you may ask? Because Vampire Academy is one of the few series I'm reading in my own language, and they are just looking so cute together:

[insert fangirl scream here]
I'm just glad I wasn't there when the mail came. The mailman would have surly thought I'm totally insane, because it would have been like this:

So I'm up to a lot of reading, don't miss me I will be back soon.
Did you read Last Sacrifice? Did you like it?
Greetings from a totally freaked out KJ

Casting Rose Hathaway...

Well as most of you may know the Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead is supposed to be turned into a movie. This is still in the planning-phase and Preger Entertainment the once in charge said, that they want to give the fans the chance, too tell them which actors they would like to play their favorite characters.
On the official Facebook site the discussion is going on and on and on, so I decided I myself will join it.
I already casted the book when I first read it, but looking back on those decisions I have to say, most of the actors are just too old.
So I'm setting out to cast the entire book new.
And here is the first decision:

Emily Robins for Rose

Rose is the Protagonist of the story. She is a Dhampir, half vampire and half human, which means she is trained to one day protect a Moroi, a vampire from the evil Strigoi, a different race of vampires. Her best friend Lissa is a Moroi-princess and Rose is training very hard to be the best, so she may be chosen to protect Lissa.
The only thing distracting Rose is, unfortunately, her teacher the good looking, talented, and damn far out of her reach Dimitri. Can Rose control her feelings and reach her goals, while she faces the dangers coming toward her?

I think Emily has the looks, the age and the talent to play a wonderful Rose. My first pick was Sophia Bush, but Rose is a Teenager, so I think someone a little bit younger like Emily, would fit better.

For news about the movie visit the official fan.-movie page.
How would you choose to play Rose?

A shout out to all the ladies...

Well...
I read a very interesting essay yesterday. It was published in A Visitor's Guide to Mystic Falls and was written by Sarah Rees Brennan, author of The Demon's Lexicon. Though the essay was about The Vampire Diaries it got me thinking a little bit bigger. The Topic was Women who love Vampires who eat women. And to sum it up Sarah R. Brennan pointed out how little the number of women is, who actually survive on this TV show.
So I thought, yeah, she's right. How many female kick ass Vampires do I know? How many kick ass female supernaturals do I know?
So today we are going to do a little counting. I know Zoe, from House of Night by PC and Kristin Cast, I know Rose and Lissa from Vampire Academy (though there are many many kick ass boys there too) by Richelle Mead and I know Dru from Strange Angels by Lili St Crow.
And that's it. Honestly, to come up with more names I really need to think... hard.
And what goes on with the boys?
Rose and Lissa have, as I said, kick ass boyfriends and more guys than girls on their school. Dru is accompanied by two boys and Zoe spends in my opinion too much time thinking about the two boys she likes.
Than there are Dracula and his companions. Frankenstein was a guy, Van Helsing was a guy, werewolves are most of the time guys... You cannot find a kick ass heroine in this genre without at least two guys on her heels.
One reason may be that we all love some good romance, and you cannot have a love triangle or a relationship with just one girl, that's logical. But can you come up with other reasons why there are so less kick ass girls? And why do they always have kick ass guys with them?
Do you know more supernatural girls?
And last but not least a shout out to all those supernatural ladies, because the genre would be boring without you and where can we find good looking guys if not in your shadow?
Keep thinking, keep reading, keep living
KJ

Ps: Yeah I know I forgot Buffy, Ever and Chloe but I had to think to come up with those names. :)

Amazing Bloodlines news!

I just read on Richelle Meads book that the second book in the Bloodlines series (the spin off for Vampire Academy) will come out in spring 2012 and the title is... The Golden Lily.
So Vampire Academy fans start speculating! What does that title mean? What do you think will the first book, narrated by Sydney, be about?
Richelle Mead did a Q&A about Bloodlines on her blog and announced, that my favorite character Adrian Ivashkov will play a big role in the book... Can you wait to read it?
Bloodlines comes out August 23 and trust me, I'm counting down the days :)
The official site is here.

I'll keep you updated :)

Comic news... Shatter me

Well, here are (again) some comic news:
The Storm Born comics had a little delay lately, but now the fist issue is officially released. There are going to be eight issues that might be summarized as one big graphic novel.
The comic version of Vampire Academy will release in August on the same day as the first installment in the spin-off series Bloodlines. Vampire Academy will be released as one Graphic novel and not in smaller comic issues.
For further information go to Richelle Meads blog. And here is a preview for the Vampire Academy comic.

In other news I want to introduce you to a new book that will release this year:

Shatter me by Tahereh Mafi
It will release in November this year and takes place in a dystopian world, where diseases and even more terrible things are destroying the population.
The young heroine Juliette is locked up for murder because her touch is poisoned.
But as things go wrong for the Reestablishment, the world is on the brink of war and Juliette has to schoose sides, will she be a weapon or a warrior, fighting for her freedom and her love?
The debut of Tahereh Mafi is really promising and seems to have everything a good book needs: a strong protagonist, a paranormal twist, an interesting world and most important: love and danger...
Let's see if it keeps what it promises...

A wonderful weekend for everyone :)

Vampire Academy Graphic Novel...

Richelle Mead just announced on her blog that their might be some sneek-peak examples online in the middle of april . I'm really excited about that, so I thought I just tell you :)
And Emma Viceli the artist of the novel auctions a custom VA drawing to help the people in Japan. That is not just a good thing to do, but a pretty awesome one, too.
For all Infos just visit Richelle Meads blog.
And don't forget to vote for VA in the KCAs

Keep your eyes on the stars... Best wishes

I can't wait for... Part I

Well, I thought I just show you some of the books I can't wait to get. Unfortunately I have to wait until they come out :( But hey anticipation is the best of all pleasures as they say in my home country.

So here are the first books:

"Bloodlines" and "Schicksalsbande" by Richelle Mead
This is the first installment in Richelle Meads' new series. It is a spin off to the Vampire Academy books and centers around Sydney, the alchemist. I'm really excited that we are going to hear more from this character because I really liked her during the original series.
But I have to be really careful and can't read much about this book, because to be honest (please don't tell anyone) I haven't finished the Vampire Academy series yet. I know, that's bad and I'm not a real fan, but I read the German version of the books and "Last Sacrifice" isn't out in Germany yet *sob*
So right now I'm counting down the days, until I can finally find out how the whole story ends. And trust me, it is really hard to not just browse over to Amazon and get the English copy. After my last visit to the bookstore of my trust the book budget sank down rapidly, so I can't buy the book in two different versions... *more sobbing*
This is the German cover:
I think it's really beautiful, but I liked the other ones more... But you can't judge a book by it's cover, right? You can find the other German covers here. Just scroll down and you see them on the right side.

The world of another one of my favorite series is going to get larger this year:
Kelley Armstrong is going to publish the first book of her Darkness Rising series. It is set in the same world as her Darkest Powers series and centers again around a teenage supernatural. She is called Maia and lives in a small medical research town. Just like the others did before Maia has yet to find out, that she has supernatural powers and that those were changed through some genetical experiments. Here is the Cover:

For more information on the books go to the authors sites: Richelle Mead and Kelley Armstrong
In Part II you are going to read something about two other books :)
But first I would like to hear your opinion. Which books are you waiting for?

Nice dreams of words to everyone

Some news and cast choices XD

Since no one told me to blog in English, or stop blogging in English I will just continue, until someone tells me to stop :)

I finished the third instalment in the breathtaking “Darkest Powers” Series by Kelley Armstrong and I started watching “Degrassi”. Already knowing where this is heading? No? Be patient ;)
You know how much I like choosing actors to play roles from books ore other stories. Of course “The Darkest Powers” is not going to be made into a movie yet (I don’t wanna spread rumours…) but I think I found a good match for Tori.

Tori or Victoria Enright as some might call her is… how do you say that? The “bad bitch” trying to get between protagonist Chloe and her maybe-boyfriend Simone. Later on she joins the group for good and here stops my description, because, as always, I don’t wanna spoil anything.
I think Annie Clark playing Fiona on Degrassi would play a perfect Tori. Not because she already proved that she can play “the bad bitch” but because I think she just got the looks:

I know some people suggest Selena Gomes as Tori, and she would be good, too, but I (after some thinking) definitely prefer Annie
What do you think? Tell me about it…
Here you find Info about Tori, Degrassi or the Darkest Powers.
Read the books! As I posted before (the question is just where? Follow the tags^^) they are definitely worth reading and I’m so waiting for the new Darkest Rising series by Kelley Armstrong :)

And finally if got something, that is worth being called "news on the VA movie". There was a interview with the owners of the movie rights. All Infos can be found here.

So for me its back to being creative, just wanted to ask you guys about my “casting decision”
Wish you all a nice weekend full of words and fun, lots of fun ^^
Kj
I, as always, don't own the picture, but it is fair use only

in english please ;)

Da die Statistik der Blogzugriffe sagt, viele Leser kommen gar nicht aus Deutschland dacht ich mir, ich mach mal ein kleines Experiment und blogge in Englisch. Die deutsche Version des Textes gibt es hier.

Because my statistic says some readers are not from Germany I decided to do a little experiment and do a blog in english. The german version of the text is here.
At first, as normally, I want to ask for a little Feedback. What do you think about the blogging in english? Should I do that on a regular basis?

And now the blog itself:
We decided do to a little Spotlight-thing. Where we talk every month about a topic that we like. This month it's a author I recommend to everyone: The fabulous Richelle Mead.

Richelle mead is an american author, here in germany mostly known for her Vampire Academy series (for short: VA).
But she wrote other good series, too:
1. At first: The Dark Swan series.
It's about Eugenie a young shaman, who has to fight against creatures from the Otherworld
2. Second in line is: The Georgina Kincaid Series.
It is , of course, about Georgina. She is a Sucubus fighting with the side effects of being a Demon.

Though this books deserve a Spotlight and definetly get not enough attention this month it's all about VA. Besides the fact, that I did a bookreview for the first one on my homepage (maybe it's coming to this blog in english, too :) )  I also wanted to introduce to you my favorite Character from the big VA universe:

Adrian Ivashkov.  (Of course XD)

For those of you, that didn't read VA a little warning: you may consider to stop reading. Because Adrian appears first in the second book and I don't wanna give away any spoilers.

But how would I cast Adrian?
Thats an easy one XD Hayden Christensen:

Why? Because he is perfect for the role and a really good actor (both things are of course a matter of opinion ^^)
Of course he is too old for that role, but with the new techniques in movie-making that shouldn't be a problem.
My second choice would be  Chace Crawford. But how do you see that? Who is your favorite Adrian Ivashkov? Tell me about it. :)

What you should know about VA:
1. The movierights are sold, but there is no official statement that plans about actually making a movie exist.
2. The sixth and final VA book "Last Sacrifice" is already published in the english-speaking part of the world, so the series is finished. But there is no reason to be sad: A Spin Off is scheduled to start in august this year. A Sequel where Sidecharacters become Protagonists.

What do you think about the Spin-Off "Bloodlines"? Is it just money-making or are you glad, because you just can't get enough of VA?

PS: To everyone who likes VA: You may consider voting for it at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Award all infos are here.
As said before this is just a test, and I'm not sure if I should start blogging in english.

I wish you all a wonderful week full with words and fantasy.
best wishes kj
